Newid Mentoring FAQs

What is mentoring?

Mentoring is a supportive relationship where an experienced person (the mentor) helps your organisation think through challenges and explore new ideas. They’ll share insights and guidance.

You stay in control of the direction and actions.

How long is the mentoring process?

On average, our mentors work with each organisation for around 21–28 hours. This includes an initial assessment, research into tailored options, and support sessions with you or your team.

Is there a cost for the service?

No, the mentoring is completely free, funded by the Welsh Government’s Third Sector Unit.

What is a ‘modern workplace’?

A modern workplace uses digital tools and smarter ways of working to make everyday tasks easier, save time, and improve service delivery.

Will the mentor do the work for us?

No, mentors don’t do the work for you. However, they will support you to:

  • Prioritise options
  • Build confidence
  • Plan achievable next steps

For real, sustainable change, your team needs to lead the way, and mentors are here to help that happen.

What if we need specialist advice (e.g. computer programming)?

Our team has a wide range of experience, but we’re not specialists in every area of technology.

If your needs go beyond our expertise, for example, custom software development, we’ll help you scope out the options and introduce you to trusted professionals from our networks across the UK.
