Designing Digital Services with People: Newid Digital Sessions

Man and woman smiling at someone out of frame. In front of them is an a3 piece of paper covered in sticky notes.
Join us on the 2nd December for the next Newid Digital Session all about making digital services work for people.

Hear how Conwy Connect for Learning Disabilities, a charity that promotes the rights of people with a learning disability in North Wales, used Service Design to make their digital systems work better for staff and the people they support.

You’ll also learn how starting small, testing ideas, and designing with people, not for them, leads to better digital services.

What you’ll get from this session

  • An introduction to user-centred and service design
  • Service design in action at Conwy Connect
  • A Q&A where you can ask questions and share your own experience
  • Optional breakout rooms for peer discussion and networking

Why we’re talking about designing digital services

When technology is poorly designed, it creates barriers and wastes resources. But when it’s done well, it can make services more inclusive, save time and money, and build trust with the people we support.

We’ll be looking at the Service Design principle of starting small, testing ideas early, and learning from your users can help us move away from “we think this is what people need” to “we know this is a need because it’s been validated through user research and testing”.

Hear from Conwy Connect for Learning Disabilities

In this session, we’ll hear from Conwy Connect, who reimagined how they use digital to manage member information and support their community.

Leanne will share what led them to make a change, how they involved members, staff, and partners in shaping a new approach, and the lessons learned along the way, especially around accessibility and inclusion.

It’s a chance to see how another charity has tackled real-world challenges, tested ideas, and created a system that works better for everyone. Whether you’re just starting out or already exploring digital change, you’ll take away practical insights you can apply in your own organisation.

Who is this session for?

  • Charities and voluntary groups in Wales
  • CICs, social enterprises, and community organisations
  • Anyone responsible for digital, service delivery, comms or operations
  • People who are just getting started with digital, and those already on their journey

Stop reinventing the wheel

Let’s work smarter, not harder. By sharing what works, we can all build better services, reach more people, and spend more time doing what matters.

Stay in the loop
